Dental-Themed Halloween Costume Ideas to Try in 2022

Halloween is just around the corner, and even at our dental centre in Ottawa, we are excited for fall fun! If you are looking to teach your kids about healthy habits during the festivities, we have a list of fun tooth-related Halloween costumes for your family to try out this year:

Tooth Fairy

There are several ways you can go about this costume. While store bought tooth fairy costumes are available, any fairy clothing and accessories from a previous Halloween can simply be updated with dental decor. Simply add tooth designs to your favorite fairy look: tooth wands and tooth tiaras are a fun crafting opportunity! For baby tooth fairies, pair a pre-made tooth fairy onesie with a tutu and wings. To easily create tooth applications that will look dazzling on your tooth fairy's tiara, magic wand, or dress, use a simple tooth pattern to make cut-outs in felt, and cover them with silver or white glitter!

Cavity Fairy

The cavity fairy costume works better when paired with her better-known colleague, the tooth fairy. The costume itself is pretty similar, though, but instead of whites and pastels, you'll want to dress your cavity fairy in darker hues. The same accessories can be used, but we recommend adding a black gemstone to your magic tooth wand or tiara teeth.

Toothbrush

Making a toothbrush costume is easy and fun, but it may require more adult supervision than other costume craft projects. For the headpiece, cut a long rectangle, and cut a hole for your child's face. Paint it white. To create bristles, use a hot glue gun to attach white and blue pipe cleaners by their ends to the cardboard. As you apply blue pipe cleaners, you can talk to your child about the ways in which blue bristles aid in excellent dental care. The markings show how much of the brush should be covered by toothpaste each use, and the blue dye fades over time, indicating when it is time to replace your toothbrush.

Toothpaste

If you have two kids who are dental aficionados, or if you're looking for an adorable tooth-themed couple's costume, look no further than Toothbrush and Toothpaste. To create a toothpaste costume, you will need several yards of white felt. create a loose-fitting tube that covers you below the knees, and remember to leave holes for your arms. Decorate with red and blue lettering.

Dentist

At our dental centre in Ottawa, we understand that being a dentist is one of the greatest jobs on Earth! Dressing as a dentist on Halloween is a perfect idea for kids who aspire to a life in the medical fields. Dentist costumes are easy, and as with the tooth fairy costume, you might be able to reuse components of previous Halloween costumes. Medical scrubs or a white lab coat from a doctor or scientist costume can be repurposed with simple additions, such as a tooth-shaped pin or added logo. Best of all, this is one costume for which wearing a mask won't throw off the entire look, as dentists have been wearing them for decades!

Dental Patient

This costume is for the Halloween fan who doesn't like making much effort. All you need is a blue dental bib over your regular clothes. To spice it up a little, glue some extra dental cleaning tools to the bib.

Loose Tooth

Tooth costumes are adorable on babies. Attach a plush tooth to the front of a white sweater, pair with white leggings, and you are good to go! If you don't need to dress a baby for Halloween, this look is also popular on dogs. Simply strap the stuffed tooth around your dog's back! For older kids dressing as a tooth, cut out two body-sized tooth shapes in felt. Sew them together, leaving holes for the arms and head.

Vampire Dental Patient
Even though they are magical beings, all that extra canine length means that even vampires have to visit the dentist for cleanings. While we think a classic vampire is perfectly dental on its own, add a few accessories to highlight your vampire's commitment to oral health. A shirt pocket full of toothbrushes or a dental bib will really bring the look home!
