Invisalign Solution

Braces are now not the only option in teeth straightening. This old but effective method of tooth straightening utilizes cemented brackets that are connected by wires to each other. These bulky devices work in combination to force the tooth to incrementally move in the appropriate direction to effect straightening. The brackets originally were only available in metal, but transparent plastic brackets were introduced later. However, aligners utilize a different approach to dental straightening.

In the case of Invisalign aligners, all the retainers are custom made, and these retainers incrementally shift the disaffected tooth in the correct position over an average time of approximately one year. They perform in a manner somewhat similar to braces, but this innovative style of aligners are removable and as important, practically invisible. Additionally, because they are aligners and not braces, and because they are custom-made, bulky immoveable wires and brackets are completely unnecessary.

The clear aligners effectively treats under and overbite as well as gaps in between and crowded teeth just as common wire braces would. Throughout the course of treatment, a patient is fitted for several sets of retainers, and these make adjustments during the treatment regimen just as wire braces and with the ability to remove the devices sometimes for comfort sake, but also so that the patient can practice good oral hygiene.

The clear plastic or acrylic retainers fit tightly over the tooth area making them stable and comfortable, and because of the ability to remove the retainers, the restrictions on what can and cannot be eaten are also removed. The treatment duration lasts from 10 to 24 months, but this is dependent upon the highly individualized needs of the patient. Usually, a patient receives a new set once every six weeks, and as with other orthodontic treatment, Invisalign is covered by a vast array of dental plans, so visit us at Upper Hunt Club Dental Centre

And for children and teenagers, no special precautions must be taken beyond the usual measure to ensure the safety of the device and the mouth. In fact, the semi soft plastic material is an additional mouth guard or protective gear for rough sports, and these aligners are sufficient enough in their structural integrity that it can also be used to replace the mouth guard altogether. Recently, mouth guards have also been prescribed by dentist to prevent damage from and sometimes even cure teeth grinding, so Invisalign aligners can also be beneficial in this function.
